4 Policemen Arrested for Robbery: Millions Of Naira In Account

Four policemen attached to one of the Mobile Units of the Lagos State police command have been arrested for armed robbery. 




However, the Force has declared a manhunt for one other, who is currently on the run. Recovered from the alleged gang leader, Eboma Onyeka’s account was money running into several millions of naira.

Daily Sun reliably gathered that Onyeka, was also arrested last January for allegedly robbing a commercial bank.
It was gathered that luck ran out on the suspects on Monday, when they were returning from a robbery operation also in a commercial bank at Owutu, Ikorodu area of the state and some policemen on stop-and-search accosted them.

The suspects were said to have identified themselves as policemen serving in one of the Mobile Squadroms but the stop-and-search policemen became suspicious when they saw some masks on the seat of the Sport Utility Vehicle (SUV) they were operating in.

The stop-and-search policemen, who were not convinced with the explanation of the suspects promptly arrested them and took then to the State Anti-robbery Squad (SARS), Ikeja.
It was further gathered that when a search was conducted on their vehicle, arms, ammunition, masks, money and other personal effects were recovered.
One of the police investigators during interrogation discovered that the alleged gang leader, Onyeka, from Delta State had in January, this year been arrested for robbing a commercial bank.
The suspects’ houses were searched and detectives who conducted the search were shocked to see a statement of account belonging to the alleged gang leader, Onyeka.
A police source alleged that Onyeka’s bank account with a new generation bank runs into several millions of naira.

The police source claimed the money was more than N18 million and revealed that Onyeka used another name Eboma Prince to open the account.
He said when the police stormed the bank, they discovered that the photograph in the account was that of Sergeant Eboma Onyeka.

The source said Onyeka was serving in a private company, in Apapa. He revealed that the suspect who is now on the run was one of those posted on guard from the Commissioner of Police’s officer
