Many commuters in Lagos were stranded as drivers of commercial buses, popularly called molue, who ply Oshodi-Ota tollgate on the Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway, pulled out their buses from the route.
the molue drivers were protesting against extortion by members of the National Union of Road Transport Workers.
Chairman, Road Transport Employers' Association of Nigeria Zone Six, Mr. Kehinde Sogunro, said NURTW on Monday increased its union fee to N1,000 from N200 per trip.
"They even forced passengers to disembark from our buses when operators refused to pay the high fee.
"Our members refused to pay the N1,000 and had to park their buses because we do not want to cause any problem in the state," Sogunro said.
