FAMILIES OF SLAIN YOUTH CORPS MEMBERS TO BE COMPENSATED

The families of about 27 ad hoc staff of the Independent National Electoral Commission and members of the National Youth Service Corps, who died in the violence that followed the Presidential election in April, are to be paid N17.7m in insurance claims.

Others who suffered injuries from the violence and the bomb blasts that characterised the general elections will also get different amounts as insurance claims.
An investigation by our correspondent revealed that Niger Insurance Plc, which handled INEC's insurance policy for the northern states, had concluded arrangements to start the payment of claims to the relatives of the victims.
Findings revealed that the company would pay each family of the deceased N655,384. The injured will get N50,000 each.
It was also learnt that the insurers would compensate victims of the bomb blasts based on doctors' recommendations. No fixed amount had been agreed upon.

This is right step on the right path......
